Eczema Rash? Here Is Why

If you have an eczema rash or eczema-like rash on your skin, chances are you are itchy in those areas and your skin is likely inflamed. Eczema can include when your skin is itchy and inflamed, however, there are many different types of eczema. Sometimes, eczema is also referred to as atopic dermatitis.

Eczema rashes can start in infants, in childhood, and even adulthood. For some, eczema can lessen as they get older, and eczema rashes may be less frequent with age.

If your skin itches and is occasionally red, you might have eczema. Though the skin condition is most common in children and infants, adults can also get eczema and eczema rashes. Eczema comes in many forms, and each type of eczema has its own symptoms or factors which trigger the eczema or eczema rashes.

Atopic Dermatitis

This is the most common type of eczema, usually beginning in children and fading away as the individual gets older.

Symptoms of atopic dermatitis include: in babies, rashes and on their cheeks and scalp; small bumps that leak fluid when scratched or disturbed; a rash or eczema-like rash that forms in the creases of knees (usually behind the knees), elbows, or creases of the elbow; a skin rash that turns darker or thicker; and infected skin when scratched or disturbed.

Hand Eczema

This is eczema that only affects the hand. This type of eczema and eczema rashes as a result, can be caused by hairdressing, healthcare, laundry, or cleaning. Dyshidrotic Eczema

Nummular Eczema

This type of eczema or eczema rash occurs when there are round, red spots on the skin. Symptoms of this type of eczema or eczema rash can include round, hard, itchy, or inflamed spots on the skin. The round spots are often the size of a coin. Causes of nummular eczema can include allergic reactions, insect bites, and dry skin.

Contact Dermatitis

Contact dermatitis occurs when there is irritated, red skin, which sometimes can be caused by allergic reactions to substances that an individual may touch.
